Learn to play Funk Drums
Funk started in the 1960's when artists began combining Soul, Jazz and R&B emphasizing the drums and electric bass creating a strong rhythmic groove. James Brown, one of the founders of Funk is also known as the Godfather of Soul. James distinguished himself with a signature sound that other artists used and built upon. Artists such as Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament-Funkadelic, The Ohio Players, Rick James, Chaka Khan, made Funk a household name and influenced later artists in other genres like The Red Hot Chili Peppers for instance.
