Learn to play the drums – Punk

Punk rock started in the mid 1970s in the UK and the US when young artists wanted to buck the mainstream music scene. Artists like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Patti Smith, Black Flag and the Ramones were among the most popular. Punk is fast paced, has edgy melodies and rebellious anti-establishment lyrics. In the late 1970s Punk splintered into many different factions where Hardcore Punk and New Wave emerged on opposite sides of the Punk spectrum. Punk rock is credited for influencing a wide spectrum of today’s music including Alternative Rock, Grunge, Thrash Metal, Indie, Emo, Pop Punk, and even mainstream Pop.
